Next, we'll jump to the creepy crawlies. I may or may not have bed bugs, but just to be sure, we're getting the place sprayed so I'm gonna have to find something to do between the hours of 10 and 4 tomorrow. While exploring Cairo should be one of my priorities I'm sorely tempted to go lounge by the AUC pool instead and work on my tan. (segue into topic:AUC) AUC isn't really Egypt. It's like if Beverly Hills got transplanted into a desert somewhere right outside oh say Cairo, which means I don't have to dress like a nun to go swimming. Have a gander at a few of these random shots taken around campus, beginning with the pool of course..
(1) Pool and (2) One of the two or three practice fields
Library from a couple angles
(1) dorms (2) so many fountains. Everywhere. Probably to try to trick you into forgetting you're in the middle of the nowhere desert
Now, lets go back to the food poisoning thing. I had the day pretty much off today, but because of my inability to use my abdominal muscles without them cramping so much I'm brought to tears, I've mostly just been lying very, very still all day. In addition to that the roomies are at work, so I'm just here by myself, trying not to move. Imagine then my surprise when I look down from the ceiling and see.... A cat. Now this isn't the first time in my life that I've been randomly found by a cat, but this time there's no RA to evict my furry friend. I know all of you responsible people out there are frowning on my tacit acceptance of what is possibly a dirty street cat from the dirty diseased floors of Cairo, but seriously this cat is pretty clean for having been on the streets and is as far as I can tell flea, tick, and other bug free. She's absolutely adorable, has the sweetest temperament, and I think I'm in love. I'll have to check with the other two first, but she may be a keeper.

Thats about all for this post. Nothing terribly eventful has happened this week. Nothing picture-worthy anyway (and as a general rule I don't blog unless I have pictures for you). In conclusion, I saw this bug on my bed today:

I love your new kitteh! she looks like a furry little angel. wie heißt sie?
ReplyDeletealso, don't worry. that isn't a bedbug. it looks a lot like a carpet or tobacco beetle. they just nom on fabrics and things. jesse should clarify things for you soon enough, though beetles and ants are not the same thing. love you! sorry you got food poisoning, but at least you had time to get better and your roommate sounds sweet. and also, AUC is ridiculous...
